Top states, this vertical
Data source: Trailer & RV, Pontoon & Marine, Roofing Tile,
Subfloor & Interior, and Bus & Truck Body are ranked directly off our own verified manufacturer
directory (below) -- each state's number is the exact count of individually-verified companies we have
listed there, not a Census estimate, so "best" always means the state with the most confirmed companies.
We started from U.S. Census Bureau County Business Patterns (NAICS codes, 2022, via api.census.gov) and
moved off it wherever a broad code buried a real cluster under an unrelated one in the same code -- e.g.
NAICS 336612 covers all boat building (yachts, sportfishing, sailboats), which buried Pontoon &
Marine's real center of gravity under Florida and Maine's general boatbuilding volume; NAICS 327120
covers all clay/refractory building materials, which buried Roofing Tile's real leader under Ohio's
industrial-brick volume. Elkhart County, Indiana is widely documented as the pontoon boat capital of the
US (Bennington, Godfrey, Barletta, Starcraft, Smoker Craft, Harris, J.C. Manufacturing, and SunChaser are
all headquartered there); California and Florida lead clay/concrete roof tile (Eagle Roofing, US Tile,
MCA, Westlake Royal, Crown, Entegra) due to Spanish/Mediterranean-style roofing demand in both states.
Coverage is still growing, so directory counts (and therefore rankings) will keep shifting as more
verified companies are added. Deck & Dock is the one exception, left on NAICS
238990 (All Other Specialty Trade Contractors) as a proxy: there isn't a distinct deck/dock
manufacturing industry the way there is for boats or trailers, since decks and docks are predominantly
built by installers rather than a small set of manufacturers, so a directory count isn't the right
measure there -- treat it as directional rather than exact.
Manufacturer contacts are real companies, individually verified via official sites,
industry association directories (NTEA, etc.), BBB, chambers of commerce, and Muro's own outreach
records, never generated. Most rows
have a full street address and phone; some (pulled from bulk directory listings) show city/state only
where a street address wasn't published in the source, never a guessed one.
